CRUDE PROTEIN

<100 µ

PARTICLE SIZE

Micronised brewer's yeast in a 5 kg bag: the protein raw material you build a patty from.

Non-GM Saccharomyces cerevisiae, pasteurised, concentrated by evaporation and dried. It is not a ready patty: it is bulk protein to mix.

01 · HOW MUCH PROTEIN

Between 42 and 47 %, and why that figure does not decide everything

It is the number to look at when comparing raw materials, and the one that puts yeast among the most concentrated protein sources. That said, the rest deserves saying: more protein is not automatically better, and a protein-only patty is not a complete feed. It provides protein, minerals and B-group vitamins; it does not provide everything pollen brings, and no substitute fully replaces it. What decides the outcome is the formulation and when you give it.

02 · WHY MICRONISED

Under 100 microns, which is what a bee can handle

This is the difference from any brewer's yeast. The maker declares a particle size below 100 microns: a powder that fine blends into the mix without going gritty and the bee takes it without trouble. With a coarser grain, part of the protein stays out of circulation even if the figure on the bag is the same. When comparing suppliers, always read both numbers together — protein and particle size.

03 · HOW TO USE IT

In paste or patty, never in liquid syrup

You mix it with a sugar to form a paste or patty, which is how the bee takes it. What you must not do is add it to liquid syrup: it ferments. Once the bag is open, close it well and keep it dry — it is a hygroscopic powder and it cakes with damp. Our proportions and recipes live on the blog, which is where they get updated.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

The 5 kg format suits anyone making patties for a small or mid-sized apiary who does not want a big bag sitting open for months. If you formulate seriously and get through it in a season, the same product comes in a 25 kg sack, where the price per kilo drops.

✓ GOOD FORFormulating protein patties and pastes by mixing it with sugar.
⚠ IT IS NOTFit for human consumption: it is registered as a raw material for animal feed.
