Details of Bain-marie Wax Melting Container

Stainless-steel bowl for melting wax in a bain-marie: 14 cm across and 6 deep, 27 cm long with the sleeved handle, two pouring lips and a wire hook that hangs it from the rim of a 12 to 26.5 cm pot. About half a litre of useful capacity.

The wax never touches the flame: the bowl hangs from the rim of the pot and the water acts as thermostat.

01 · WHAT FOR

Wax for candles, cosmetics and waxing small frames

It is the melter for small batches: one or two candles, a cream, or waxing the bars of a mating nuc. Beeswax melts between 62 and 65 °C and scorches past 85: in a bain-marie the water never exceeds 100 and the wax does not overheat.

02 · HOW TO USE IT

Hung from the rim, handle outside the pot

The wire hook rests on the rim of the pot and the sleeved handle stays out of the steam; on 12 to 26.5 cm pots it hangs without touching the bottom. Gentle simmer, wax in pieces, and pour from whichever lip suits, without filling to the brim. Keep water out of the wax: it spits. Gloves: the bowl burns even if the handle does not.

03 · CAPACITY AND CLEANING

Half a litre useful; cleaned while hot

How much it holds, the question from the mailbox: by its dimensions, about half a litre useful, some 400-450 grams of wax per batch; the maker does not publish the figure. Clean it while hot with paper; wax never goes down the sink.

The pot, the wax and the moulds come separately.
