01 · AN OPEN MOULD
No slit, no bands and no wick
According to the LYSON catalogue it is a mould without a slit: it is filled from above and needs no rubber bands. LYSON assigns it no wick either, so it is a decoration rather than a candle. What shows are the raised baubles, and to mark them the wax has to reach the bottom still liquid.
02 · POURING AND UNMOULDING
Wax at 70-75 °C, and careful with the star
Beeswax is poured at 70-75 °C, slowly and with a few taps on the mould so no air stays in the baubles; above 85 °C it darkens. Unmould cold, flexing the silicone outwards: the star at the top is the thinnest part and the first to break if you pull on it.
03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
The mould comes on its own. It also takes soy, paraffin, ceramic plaster or resin, and a mould used with wax does not go back to the kitchen: LYSON does not intend it for food.
