"Pumpkin Man" Silicone Mould, fun and educational. Perfect for Halloween and autumn projects, leveraging the natural colour of beeswax for charming figurines.
Two-part silicone mould for a beeswax pumpkin-man candle, with hollow eyes and mouth.
At 50 °C beeswax is not poured: it is solid. The sheet says to pour between 50 and 60 °C so the face comes out defined. Beeswax melts between 62 and 65: at 50 there is nothing to pour, and at 60 it arrives so thick that the expression is the first thing lost. It is poured at 70-75.
01 · AT 50 °C WAX IS SOLID
The sheet's reasoning was right and the number was not: for the wax to get into the hollows of the eyes and the mouth it has to arrive liquid, not setting. Between 70 and 75 it does; above 85 it darkens, and that is the real ceiling.
02 · YOUR WAX ALREADY HAS THE COLOUR
It is the best argument this mould has for a beekeeper, and it was buried at the end of the sheet: cappings wax is yellow or orange to begin with, which is exactly the colour of a pumpkin. No dye, no mixing, nothing to declare.
Whoever starts from white soy needs orange colourant to reach where you already are.
03 · THE STEM IS WHERE IT SNAPS
Pour with the mould tilted and tap the base gently: the hollows of the eyes and the mouth are air traps, and a bubble there leaves the face expressionless.
To unmould, push up from the base of the body and never pull on the stem: it is the narrow part and it takes the figure with it. It is a two-part mould and the bands go on before pouring; we have them at €1.61.
04 · BEFORE YOU BUY
70-75 °C, and cappings wax already comes the right colour.
| ✓ A GOOD FIT | An autumn market with your own wax: the natural colour of cappings is already the colour of a pumpkin. |
| ⚠ IT NEEDS ELASTIC BANDS | Two-part mould: unheld, the wax escapes at the seam. We have them at €1.61. |
| ✕ NOT A CHILDREN'S CRAFT | Pouring wax at 70-75 °C is an adult's job. Children can set the wick and unmould once cold. |
