Bar mould for a candle of 19.5 × 10 cm and 6 cm tall: one kilo of wax in a single piece.

Here the sum is one candle to the kilo. This is not a small figure mould that gives you twenty pieces: every pour takes 1,000 grams. Worth knowing beforehand, because it decides how much of your own wax to set aside for the season.

01 · ONE KILO A CANDLE

The size is the argument, and also the cost

The finished candle is 19.5 × 10 cm at the base and 6 cm tall; the mould, 23 × 13 cm and 7 cm, with the silicone wall around it. It is a counter piece, the kind you see from the door.

At a kilo apiece, twenty candles are twenty kilos of wax. Against the figure moulds — thirty grams and thirty candles to the kilo — this is a different production decision, not a decorative variant.

02 · POUR IN TWO GOES

Wax shrinks, and in a block it shows

Beeswax melts between 62 and 65 °C and pours comfortably between 70 and 75 °C, always below the 85 at which it darkens. That is the working point, however many datasheets repeat 65.

In a one-kilo piece there is also an effect the small ones do not suffer: as it cools, the wax contracts and sinks in the centre around the wick. The answer is to keep wax back and fill that hollow with a second pour once the surface has set but the inside is still warm.

03 · BEFORE YOU BUY

A mould for one big piece, not for a run.
