The sizes are 400 mm (€351.24), 500 (€371.90), 600 (€392.56) and 700 (€412.40). Between the lowest and the highest there is €61.16, so money should not decide: what you are going to put underneath should.

Allow for the tank's own tap, which already sits a few centimetres above its base. A 25 kg bucket asks little; a 100 kg settling tank to decant into, a good deal more. Measure it on the honey-house floor before choosing a size.

02 · TO GET THE LAST KILO OUT

Which is where backs get hurt

Emptying the bottom of a settling tank by tilting it by hand, on a wet floor with two hundred kilos on top, is the manoeuvre that causes most injuries in a honey house. Up on a stand, the tank empties by gravity to the end and nobody has to balance anything.

It suits settling tanks, creamers, mixers and homogenisers: any vessel with a bottom tap gains the same.

03 · AND IT MOVES LOADED

Which is the other half of the point

It runs on wheels, so the tank stops being furniture: it goes over to the bottler, comes away so the floor can be cleaned, and goes back without being emptied first.

It is stainless steel, like the tank standing on it, so it does not introduce a different material into the food area that has to be cleaned separately.
