BeeHard beekeeping gloves with a cowhide back, sheepskin palm and double leather on thumb, index and middle finger, with a cotton twill gauntlet up to the forearm. Sizes 8 to 12. They are the sting gloves for daily handling: thick leather where the stings land and fine skin where you grip.

A beekeeping glove fails in two places: the back, where the stings go in, and the three fingers that pull frames, where it tears. Here each zone gets the leather it needs.

01 · TWO LEATHERS

Cowhide on the back, sheepskin in the palm

The back of the hand is what the bee reaches first, and it is cowhide, thick and hard to get through. The palm is where you need to feel the frame’s weight, the Hoffman edge when seating it and the propolis when prising, and it is sheepskin, thinner and more flexible. An all-cowhide glove protects but numbs; an all-sheepskin one gets stung and tears. This one splits the job.

02 · THE THREE FINGERS

Double leather where every glove tears

Thumb, index and middle finger grip, pull and turn the frames at every inspection, and they are the first to open on any beekeeping glove. Here they carry a double layer of leather: with 50 hives a session it shows in seasons, not days. The cotton twill gauntlet covers the forearm and closes over the suit sleeve.

03 · SIZE AND CARE

Measure the hand, and no sun or radiator

Five sizes, 8 to 12: measure the palm girth without the thumb and order the one with room for sweat and the cuff closure. Leather is cleaned with a dry or barely damp cloth and dried in the shade with air; direct sun and heat harden and crack it. For oxalic treatments or soda cleaning this is not the glove: for that, the nitrile one.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

One pair of the chosen size is supplied; the breathable-back version for summer is 3181, and the nitrile one for treatments is 3182.

✕ DOESN’T FIT	Anyone after ventilation on hot days (for that, the 3D breathable ones) or a chemical glove for treatments (the nitrile one).
