White sugar, EEC grade 2, in a 800 kg pallet: 99.70 % minimum polarisation, under 0.06 % moisture and 0.50 mm grain. Raw material for syrup — 1:1 to stimulate, 2:1 for stores — and for candy. A colony uses 5 to 15 kg a season, so a 800 kg pallet covers 50-160 colonies.

COLONIES PER PALLET

White sugar, EEC grade 2, in a 800 kg pallet: the raw material syrup is made from, with the specification on show.

Evenly granulated crystal from beet or cane, 99.70 % minimum polarisation and under 0.06 % moisture. It is not a finished feed: it is the ingredient.

01 · WHY QUALITY MATTERS

Whatever is not sucrose is paid for by the bee's gut

In a sugar for bees the deciding figure is not sweetness, it is what is not sucrose. Ash and colour measure exactly that: the molasses residues and minerals a bee cannot digest, which through winter load her gut just when she can least afford it. The EEC grade 2 specification caps ash below 15 P.E. and colour in solution below 6 P.E., and limits SO₂ to 10 mg/kg. That is why any brown or second-grade sugar will not do: the darker it is, the more residue it carries.

02 · THE TWO RATIOS

1:1 to stimulate, 2:1 for stores

It is made up at two concentrations depending on what you want. A 1:1 — one kilo of sugar per litre of warm water — is the light stimulation syrup: the density a colony reads as nectar coming in, in small frequent doses. A 2:1 — two kilos per litre — is the thick maintenance syrup, in large spaced doses so they store it before winter. Warm the water only enough to dissolve: boiling or reheating repeatedly does not improve the syrup and raises HMF.

03 · HOW MUCH YOU NEED

Between 5 and 15 kg per colony per season

Consumption depends on the region, colony strength and whether you are stimulating or wintering: the usual range is 5 to 15 kg of sugar per colony per season, and long winters or short flows push you to the top of it. On that basis a 800 kg pallet covers 50-160 colonies. And a rule that does not depend on format: do not feed during a flow if you are going to harvest that honey for sale.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

The pallet is 32 sacks of 25 kg: 800 kg, which at 5-15 kg per colony covers between 50 and 160 colonies for a season. It ships as a full pallet on a freight service and needs lorry access; the carrier unloads kerbside and the rest is on you. If the address has a narrow street or no loading bay, ask us before ordering.

⚠ KEEP IT DRYClosed, off the floor and away from damp walls: moisture cakes it.
