01 · WHAT IT IS

Raw material, not a finished product

This is raw material, not a finished product. It arrives as glucose/fructose syrup with a high fructose content — around 45 % — which is what stops it crystallising inside the comb when the cold comes. It serves as it is for stimulative feeding and also as a base for making your own feeds: pastes, patties or syrups tuned to what you need. It carries animal feed registration and the raw materials are GMO-free.

02 · THE WATER SUM

Thirty-four litres per hundred kilos

The water sum comes from a simple formula: water (L) = kg of syrup × (dry matter ÷ target dry matter − 1). Starting at 67 %, to bring it to 1:1 — 50 % dry matter — you need 34 litres of water per 100 kg; for a 3:2 wintering syrup — 60 % — about 12 litres is enough. And a detail worth seeing: a 2:1 is 66.7 % dry matter, so at 67 % this syrup already arrives as practically a 2:1 and for wintering there is nothing to dilute.

03 · WHAT THE SHED NEEDS

Pump, tank and room for the container

A 1,200 kg container is not handled by hand. It calls for a transfer pump, a tank or the containers you will decant into, and somewhere sheltered in the shed to keep it, plus a forklift or loader to unload it. The trade-off is exactly what you are after at this volume: you pay for no packaging and no per-drum freight, and the syrup comes out of the container in the precise amount you will feed on each round.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

When comparing prices against other syrups, look at the dry matter and not just the kilo: at 67 %, every 100 kg carries 33 of water, while a syrup at 72.7 % carries 27. The difference shows when you buy by the tonne. In exchange, a less concentrated syrup saves you water when diluting for stimulation. And the usual rule: do not feed during the flow if you intend to harvest that honey for sale.
