Details of Electric heated top cover 1000 mm for reinforced uncapping bench

Heated 1,000 mm lid for an uncapping bench: it creates a chamber of heat over the cappings and speeds up the draining.

The regulator goes to 120 °C, and that covers two different jobs. Draining honey and melting wax are not done at the same time or at the same temperature. While there is honey in the cappings the product sets the limit; once there is none, the wax does. Confusing the two is what ruins a harvest.

01 · 30-120 °C ARE TWO DIFFERENT JOBS

First the honey, and only then the wax

With honey still in the bed of cappings, the job is gentle heat and time: above 40 °C the honey's HMF rises and the diastase falls, and that honey is the one going into jars. The low end of the regulator is what belongs to this phase.

Beeswax does not melt until 62-65 °C, so any setting above that figure is no longer draining honey: it is melting wax. That is a legitimate job and the high range exists for it, but it is done afterwards, with the honey already collected below.

02 · 1,500 W OVER 1,000 MM

Heat spread out, not a spotlight

The 1,500 W are spread over the whole metre of bench, and the perforated construction is what stops the heat landing concentrated on one spot. That is the opposite of the makeshift solution — the lamp, the blanket, the fan heater pointed at it — which scorches one area and leaves the next one cold.

It runs on 230 V, so an ordinary socket does, and the whole assembly is stainless steel: at the end of the day it cleans without corners where wax can sit.

03 · STANDARD OR REINFORCED BENCH

It has to be stated when ordering

The lid is supplied in a version compatible with a standard bench or with a reinforced one, and they are not interchangeable. That is the detail to give when ordering, along with the 1,000 mm size.

If you are not sure which bench you have, a photo of the profile and the supports settles it in a minute. Ordering the wrong one means sending back 22 kilos of steel.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

It speeds up draining; it is not a wax melter with honey inside.

✓ FITSUncapping benches of 1,000 mm, in the standard or reinforced version as stated on ordering.
⚠ STATE THE BENCH TYPEStandard and reinforced take different lid versions. That is the detail to give with the order.
✕ THE HIGH RANGE IS NOT FOR HONEYAbove 40 °C the honey pays in HMF. The 120 °C are for melting wax, with the honey already drained.
