The cross bar is the bar that runs across the centre of the extractor, side to side, and on which the motor (or the manual drive) and the lids rest. If your extractor's original bar flexes or is flimsy, this one replaces it with one that takes the weight and torque of the motor.
In stainless steel, it gives the firm anchor point the motor plate needs. A bar that flexes passes on vibration and throws the shaft out of line; a rigid cross bar keeps the assembly steady and the spin centred, season after season. It also seats the lids, so the right length closes the extractor better.
Pick the cross bar by your extractor's drum diameter, in three ranges:
Measure the outer diameter of your extractor and pick the range it falls in.
