01 · BY CRANK, AND WITHOUT A SOCKET

You set the pace, with the good and the bad of it

There is no motor and no controller, so it works where there is no power and there is nothing electronic to break. The side crank gives direct control: you take the speed up and down according to what you see through the lid.

The honest caveat is that a radial needs more revolutions than a tangential to empty both faces at once, and those revolutions come from your arm. With fluid honey and well capped frames it is plenty; with thick honey you feel it in the shoulder.

02 · WHAT IT DOES NOT HAVE

No perimeter ring, and plastic hinges

There is no perimeter ring or reinforcement on the drum, the hinges are four plastic pieces and the top bar is 10 mm painted flat bar, not stainless. Those are the parts where the MINIMA range saves.

The practical consequence is one and worth keeping in mind: load it evenly. A drum with no ring feels the imbalance between frames of different weight more. That is why the soft PVC anti-vibration pads come as standard: they are not an extra, they are the compensation.

03 · THE REST IS STAINLESS

Drum, basket and tap, which is what touches the honey

The drum is 0.6 mm stainless steel and the basket, also stainless, is Ø 8 mm rod supported at two points, top and bottom, which is what keeps it centred when turned by hand.

The tap is 6/4 inch stainless steel, the size of the honey line, and the 3 mm methacrylate lid lets you see inside without opening anything while you crank.
