Honey Refractometer Calibration Set

01 · COMPATIBILITY

Check your model’s calibration system

A light or a honey scale does not establish compatibility. The refractometer must support this liquid and block system. The Hanna HI96801 and ATAGO PAL-22S are calibrated with water according to their respective manuals; this kit does not replace that procedure.

02 · ADJUSTMENT

The reference value applies to the complete system

Follow the kit and refractometer instructions for positioning the liquid and block and adjusting the scale. The block is part of the calibration system, not simply a cover protector. With the block and a drop of oil, the refractometer is set to 19.6% water (78.8 °Brix on a Brix scale), never to zero: the value comes from the block, and the oil only provides contact between block and prism. If the kit’s leaflet gives a different value, the leaflet prevails.

03 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Clean before measuring honey again

The refractometer is not included. After adjustment, clean the surfaces as directed in the manual to remove oil residues before placing a honey sample on the prism.

⚠ PRECAUTIONS

The oil may cause an allergic skin reaction and serious eye irritation, and may be fatal if swallowed and enters the airways. Avoid contact and do not breathe its vapour. If swallowed, call a poison centre or doctor immediately and do not induce vomiting. On skin, wash with plenty of water; in the eyes, rinse with water for several minutes and see a doctor if irritation persists. Store it locked up, out of children’s reach.
