Details of Heated Stainless Steel Honey Tank 1000kg

1,000 kg heated maturer in 1.5 mm AISI 304, with the element in a thermal-oil jacket and a digital thermostat.

The element never touches the honey. That is the difference that decides how this tank heats: the 3,000 W heat thermal oil inside a jacket, and it is the oil that spreads the heat through the wall. No glowing element in contact with the product.

01 · THE ELEMENT SITS IN OIL

And that is why there is no hot spot

An element submerged directly in honey gets very hot right at its surface, even if the bulk is only warm: that is where darkening and HMF appear. Here the element works inside a thermal-oil jacket, which behaves like a bain-marie: it spreads the temperature over the whole wall and removes the hot spot.

The thermal oil in the jacket is a consumable: it has to be checked and topped up over time. If you need a refill, ask for it along with the equipment.

02 · 3,000 WATTS IS 13 AMPS

And that has to be checked at the board

At 230 V, the element's 3,000 W come to about 13 amps. That is practically a 16 A circuit to itself, the same order as a heated-blade uncapper. In a unit with a generous installation it is no problem; in a small premises, check it before the tank arrives.

The thermostat is digital, with its own control panel. And the same rule applies as to any heated equipment in the room: the temperature the machine allows is not the temperature the product allows. Honey should not go past 40 °C if you want to keep its enzyme profile and not drive up HMF.

03 · YOU CHOOSE THE OUTLET SIZE

1½ or 2 inch, to suit your line

This maturer is ordered with a side outlet of 1½ inch (DN40) or 2 inch (DN50), your choice. Not a minor detail: a honey house often runs both sizes, and being able to order the tank in the one you already have saves reducers and adapters.

Tell us which size your hoses and fittings are, and we will order it in that.

04 · THE SIDE OUTLET LEAVES A RESIDUE

The honest trade-off of this design

The outlet is on the side, not in the bottom. That means whatever sits below the level of the tap does not come out by gravity: you collect it separately at the end of the batch or leave it for the next load.

If total drainage is what you are after, the answer is a conical-bottom maturer with the tap in the curve. Here the design prioritises something else: the heating jacket, which occupies precisely the bottom.

05 · 1,000 KG IS ABOUT 780 LITRES

And the lid filter is a coarse one

At Ø 950 mm inside and around 1,100 mm tall, the cylinder comes to some 780 litres, which at 1.4 kg a litre is the 1,000 kg declared. The sum checks out and the tank is used in full.

The lid is stainless and centre-hinged, with a 4 mm filter in the loading mouth. Worth knowing what that filter is: a coarse screen that catches lumps of wax and cappings, not a fine filter. Fine filtering goes earlier in the line, or later. Sheet thickness is 1.5 mm, generous for a heated tank.

06 · BEFORE YOU BUY

A heated tank for large batches.

✓ A GOOD FITBatches of 1,000 kg (about 780 litres) with gentle thermal-oil heating.
⚠ IT ASKS FOR 13 AMPS3,000 W of element. Check the board before it arrives.
✕ NOT A TOTAL-DRAIN TANKThe outlet is on the side: whatever is below the tap does not come out on its own.
