01 · WHAT THE MAILBOX ASKS

Stainless, strainer separate, lid included, stand to choose

Nine questions in four languages and nearly all the same. Body, lid and gate are stainless steel; the maker does not publish the steel grade or whether the bottom is conical or flat, and we are measuring it. The clip lid and handles are included; the strainer is not: the Ø 468 mm SAF strainer, single (548) or double (1633), rests on the 53 cm rim with its supports. To raise it and get a jar under the gate, the universal lifting stand 2940, which takes diameters of 31 to 64 cm.

02 · THE GATE

Welded to the body, and checked before filling

The stainless gate is welded low down, not threaded: it does not come off for cleaning or swap for another, and a French review from 2024 warns it dripped top and bottom when opened with the tank full. Before loading 300 kilos, test with water: fill a hand’s depth, open and close several times and check it does not weep; if it does, claim before there is honey inside.

03 · SETTLING

Rest, not straining; and 300 kilos do not move

While resting, foam and light particles rise and are skimmed off the top; the tank organises that, but it does not replace prior sieving or lower the moisture of badly ripened honey. Lid closed so it does not take up moisture from the air. Loaded, it is not moved by hand: set it level, on a floor or stand that takes 330 kilos, with room to open the lid and put the container under the gate.

04 · CLEANING

Hot water, and the gate open to dry

Wash with hot water and neutral detergent, rinse and dry before each batch; leave the gate open to drain and dry, since it does not come off. No metal scourers or concentrated bleach on stainless.

05 · BEFORE YOU BUY

The tank is supplied with lid, clips, handles and gate; SAF strainer (548 or 1633) and lifting stand (2940) come separately.
